Spotify Releases Beta 'Songwriters Pages'
On Wednesday (Feb. 12), Spotify announced the beta release of ‘songwriter pages’, aimed at giving songwriters their own profile page on the streaming service.
In their release announcement, Spotify stated “we’ve seen a 60% increase in how often labels and distributors credit songwriters on their new releases”.
The songwriter pages will feature a list of songs that the songwriter has written, all of which can be listened to through the streaming service, as well as a ‘Written By’ playlist for which listeners can find by using Spotify’s search feature.
Where to find the songwriters page?
You can either search for the songwriters ‘Written By’ playlist using the Spotify search bar, or when songwriters are credited on a track, listeners can click songwriters’ names to view a page showcasing the songs they’ve written.
Spotify launched the beta with songwriter pages for Meghan Trainor, Fraser T Smith, Missy Elliott, Teddy Geiger, Ben Billions and Justin Tranter, among many others. In beta, these pages are enabled by publishers and Spotify in partnership with songwriters.
