5 Tips for Getting on Spotify Curated Playlists
5 tips to get on Spotify Playlists to maximize exposure!
So you just got the final master of your new song or album and are ready for distribution!
If you are a regular user of Spotify then you know how valuable curated playlists can be to help artists gain exposure to their music. This week we want to share some best practices when it comes to submitting music to Spotify playlists.
Here are 5 quick tips to getting your music on Spotify playlists
1. Focus on your best highest potential single first - Rather than trying to land every song on your album, try to focus on your most catchiest, high potential song and use your time to push that. Sometimes direct feedback can help you see which song of yours is a fan favorite.
2. Don't Sleep on the metadata - If you want to be properly credited and earn revenue from your music, then you MUST complete the metadata! Spotify playlist curators have stated when submitting music "the more info we have, the better the chances for placements". This metadata helps direct the music (based on genre, feel, tempo, etc) to the best playlist for it.
3. Submit your song at least one week before its release - Release Radar is a playlist of newly released music based on who you follow. Therefore when you release a new project, your songs will be placed in your followers Release Radar playlist. For the best chance at landing in this playlist and other playlists, you must submit music at least one week before its official release.
4. Build your brand on all social media platforms - One of the best ways to increase your chances at landing on a popular playlist is to establish your brand as an artist on all social media platforms. This includes having a dedicated website, and constantly updated your social media profiles with pictures and BTS footage for your fans. Also asking them to follow you on Spotify ensures they will see your new releases on their Release Radar playlist.
5. Blue Check, Get Verified on Spotify - Spotify used to require you to have 250 followers before earning that blue check. Now they have made it even easier with the only requirement being to create a Spotify for Artists account. It's a quick easy step but easily overlooked. Do it now if you are not verified yet!
